Bishop Gregory       His Excellence Most Reverend GREGORY (Charkiewicz), bishop of Suprasl, was born on 4.12.1964 in Bialystok. In 1979 he began his studies in Orthodox Spiritual Seminary in Warsaw and then he continued his learning in the two year Higher Orthodox Spriritual Seminary in Jableczna. In 1987 he started studying in the Theological Academy in Leningrad (nowadays St. Petersburg), where he graduated from in 1991 with the title of M.A. In 1989 he received his deacon ordination from His Excellence Archbishop Sawa and three years later - priest ordination. In 1992 he took the Holy Orders. Since 1996 he has been working as an assistant in the Department of the Practical Theology in the Christian Theological Academy. Since 1996 he has been a teacher of liturgics and Oldchurchslavonic language in Iconographical School in Bielsk Podlaski. In May 1998 he was ordanined bishop. On behalf of the Holy Council of Bishop His Excellence Bishop Gregory is in charge of the orthodox monasteries in Poland fulfilling the responsibilities of a rector. In years 1998-2008 bishop of Bielsk, since 2008 bishop of Suprasl.
