ORTHODOXY IN POLAND
 
    About 500 thousand orthodox people is live in Poland (on 38 mln population of the country), according to statistics GUS GUS. Great concentrating (about 300 thousand faithfules) was situated at Bialystok's region. Orthodox Church in Poland is have now 6 dioceses and Orthodox Ordynariate of the Polish Army (33 deaneries and 232 parishes, about 400 churches and chapels):     Metropolitan of Warsaw and All Poland is head of Polish Authocefalus Orthodox Church. In 1998 year, Archbishop Sawa was elected to this post, previous he was Superior of the Bialystok-Gdansk Diocese and he was Superior of the Orthodox Ordinariate in Polish Army. 9th bishops is composing now Saint Council of Orthodox Bishops, except His Beatitude Eminence Sawa, Metropolitan of Warsaw and All Poland:
 
 
BIALYSTOK-GDANSK DIOCESE
 
    Bialystok-Gdansk Diocese created in 1948, after decision of the Saint Council of Orthodox Bishops of the Polish Orthodox Autocephalous Church. Early, all Bialystok region was belong to Warsaw-Bielsk Diocese, before second world war he was belong to Diocese of Grodno (Grodno located in Belarus, nowadays). On the area of diocese is found two bishop's cathedral in Bialystok and Gdansk, and monasteries in Suprasl, Dojlidy and Wojnowo. Bialystok-Gdansk Diocese is distribute to 5 deaneries (Bialystok, Gdansk, Grodek, Olsztyn and Sokolka) and 56 parishes. On diocese teritory located 2 military parishes, in Bialystok and Gdansk (in jurysdyction of Orthodox Ordynariate of the Polish Army).
    His Eminence Archbishop Sawa was previous Superior of Diocese, present he is Metropolitan of Warsaw and All Poland. His Excellence Most Reverend Archbishop Jakub is a Head of Bialystok-Gdansk Diocese, nowadays.
